Helen Barding

Helen Marie Barding, 97 of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in her home. She was born on March 7, 1929, in Edinburg, the daughter of Ernest L. and Mary Margaret (Deom) Smith. She married Glen M. Barding on December 31, 1948, in St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville. She loved being a homemaker and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children: Linda Miller, Deborah Moore (John Katz) and Tom Barding (Elaine) all of Taylorville; grandchildren: Michael Miller, Melanie Miller, Todd Mundhenke, Chris Upchurch (Amy), Lilly Barding, Deuce Barding, and Lincoln Barding; great grandchildren: Sydney Newberry, Wrigley Upchurch, Lillian Miller, Jade Miller, Shyah Miller, and Zoey Shapiro; and sister: Joyce Lutchka of Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson: Ronnie Mundhenke; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

A funeral service for Helen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. Tomy Philip officiating. The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. McClure Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
