He was actively and enthusiastically involved in sports during high school. He subsequently attended and graduated from Western Illinois University. He lived for several years in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs before recently returning to the Henry area to be closer to his family.

He eagerly looked forward to participating in the annual family fishing trip in June that included stays in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing cards, and was a music enthusiast. Throughout his life he embraced a love of animals that is best reflected by the lifetime list of his beloved dogs. He was a generous and loving person who enjoyed the company of family and friends.
