Washburn:
Glenda Nell Whirrell, 77, of Washburn, passed away Sunday June 18, 2023, 9:00am at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
Visitation will be Friday June 23, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Washburn. Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 am at the Oak Grove Church of The Brethren, Low Point, IL. Burial will follow at Buckingham Cemetery, Low Point, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.
Nell was born February 25, 1946 in Lamb County, Texas to Francis Marrion and Madgie (Grimmett) Palmer. She married John D. Whirrell Sr., November 14, 1963, in Wilmington, IL. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2016.
Surviving are her children, John D. Whirrell, Jr., of Wilbern, James E. (Debbie) Whirrell Sr., Sheila (Joe) White, and Sheena (Jeff) Gray, all of Washburn, twenty two grandchildren and thirty two great-grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Fred Brinkley, of Alton, MO.
Her parents, eleven siblings, two grandchildren, James, and Jacklyn Whirrell, preceded her in death.
Nell was a member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. She had worked aa a CNA and was a homemaker.
She loved to crochet, sew, fish and go camping, followed Fox news and loved to spend time with her family.
