Glean Ione Price Obituary (1927

Glean Ione Price, 95, of Ballwin, MO, died peacefully in her sleep in her home at Briarcrest Estates on March 26, 2023. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Glean was born in Oakley, KS, June 26, 1927, daughter of Zelma and Ray Long. She graduated from Oakley High School, Class of 1945, and then moved to Chicago where she worked at the Signal Depot. In 1946, she was assigned to the Decatur Signal Depot. In Decatur, she met and married Vern Price, her husband of 60 years. He preceded her in death in 2006. They had two sons, Richard Kenton (Maureen) Price and Robert Lee (Marilyn) Price. In 1954, Glean became employed as an Accountant at the new Caterpillar Tractor Company of Decatur, from where she retired after 28 years. An active member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur for 68 years, she taught kindergarten Sunday School, joined the Covenant Class and Quilters Club, founded the Computer Club, volunteered with food ministries, and became the church's unofficial "door greeter" on Sundays. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Rita Snyder, brother, Richard Long, and granddaughter, Mary Katherine Price Peeples. Surviving are sons Richard Kenton (Maureen) Price, Robert Lee (Marilyn) Price, brother Gaylord (Flora) Long, brother James (Grace) Long; grandchildren David Price, Mark (Katie) Price, Ashley Price, Bobby Price; great-grandchildren Crystal Price, Riley Price, Sean Price, Carter Peeples, Cory Price, and Rey Price. Memorial service Saturday, May 6, First United Methodist Church, 201 W. North St., Decatur. Visitation 10 am; Service 11 am. Burial at Camp Butler next to husband Vern.
