Geraldine Qualls

Geraldine L. Qualls, 88, of Palmyra, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Courtyard Estates in Girard, IL.

Geraldine was born June 9, 1938, in Carlinville IL, the daughter of William and Clara (Bivin) Best. She married Loren Qualls on June 3, 1956, in Palmyra, IL. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2015.

Surviving are her two sons, Bradley (Brenda) Qualls of Palmyra, IL and Brent (Monica) Qualls of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren: Silas Qualls of Palmyra, IL, Kayla (Derek Haggard) Kromer of Jacksonville, IL, Kara Kromer of Springfield IL, Derek (Melanie) Qualls of Winfield, IN, Lauren (Christian Peraza) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dane (Rosee) Qualls of Austin, TX; seven great-grandchildren: Brody, Grace, Liam, Otto, Pace, Nell, and Emmett; her brother, Michael (Cathern) Best of Palmyra, IL; and her beloved dog named Ringo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Billy Best, and her sister, Kathleen Shipley.

Geraldine was a 1956 graduate of Northwestern High School in Palmyra. She worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank in Virden for over 20 years as a teller. She was a lifelong member of Blooming Grove Christian Church in Palmyra. She adored her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden, IL. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2026, at Blooming Grove Christian Church in Palmyra, IL with Pastor Scott Bayles officiating. Burial will follow at Virden Cemetery.
