Gerald “Jerry” Phillips, 77, of Lacon, IL passed away at 1:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. A mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca, IL with Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Toluca. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca. Memorials may be made to the Ark in Lacon or the Lacon-Sparland Ambulance Service. Jerry was born July 16, 1946, in Streator, IL the son of George and Phyllis Dust Phillips. He married Patricia A. Grieder on April 1, 1967, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca. She survives along with four children Desiree (Jack) Kear of Henry, Nicole Burgin of Lacon, Gerald (Touan) Phillips of Minonk, and Robert (Erica) Phillips of West Peoria; two brothers Alan (Karen) Phillips of Peoria, and Ron (Judy) Phillips of Sun City West, AZ; ten grandchildren Brooke (Hannah) Zuidema, Maddy (Dillon Morgan) Phillips, Sarah (Trenten Brinkley) Phillips, Emiley Phillips, Natalie Phillips, Colten Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Jonah Phillips, Alice Phillips, and Hannah Kear; and two great grandchildren Lane and Tatum Brinkley. He worked at J.T. Fennell Co. in Chillicothe for 40 years and retired in 2016 as a quality control inspector. He also had a motor route for the Journal Star and was a carrier for 20 years. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and spending time with family and friends.
