George R. Jehle Obituary (1941

George R. Jehle, age 84, of Pontiac, IL, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Goldwater Care of Pontiac. A public visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, located at 903 W. Custer Ave, Pontiac, IL, 61764. His funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, starting at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Cremation rites will follow, along with a graveside at a later date at South Side Cemetery in Pontiac. Memorials in George’s memory may be made to Livingston County Humane Society or to the Veterans Affairs Office in Peoria, IL. George was born in Cullom, IL, to Earl and Sadie (Jones) Jehle. He married the love of his life, Pat (Burge) Jehle, on November 10, 1968, in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac. Other survivors include his beloved children: Jeff (Kim) Jehle of Springboro, OH, and Julie (Dan) Barnett of Pontiac; and his five adored grandchildren: Tyler Jehle, Dylan Jehle, Staci Boothe, Sydney Barnett, and Logan Barnett. He is preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings: Geraldine Wilson, Betty Shoemaker, Donald Jehle. George graduated from Cullom High School, the class of 1959. After graduation, he helped take care of his family and their farm. In 1962, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1966. George worked as a Meat Manager at Kroger’s in Streator, IL, for over 30 years. George was a faithful and loyal member of the First United Methodist Church and the Coffee Club. George enjoyed fishing, joking around with others, and drinking coffee every morning with his buddies. He was an all around great man who brought a bright light into others’ lives. Above all, Georgie loved his family. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He truly loved his family deeply and was the absolute best husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. He made countless memories that will forever be remembered and cherished by those who loved him dearly.
