George W. "Cy" Cripe, 74, of Oreana, IL, passed away on Friday, July 12th, 2019.\r\n\r\nA service to honor and celebrate George's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. George will be laid to rest in Cerro Gordo Township Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or Pawprint Ministries. \r\n\r\nGeorge was born on November 25, 1944 in Decatur, IL, the son of Ira G. and Evelyn M. (Snoke) Cripe. He graduated in 1962 from Cerro Gordo High School and was a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 146. He married Rena (Rigoni) Cripe and had 2 daughters. George was a member or Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer for the Cerro Gordo Fire Department for many years. George enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, mushroom hunting and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Illini and CGB Broncos fan. \r\n\r\nGeorge is survived by his daughters: Andrea Tirpak and her husband Robbie of Forsyth, IL, Elizabeth Cripe of Bloomington, IL; brother: James Cripe and his wife Laurel of Monticello, IL; grandchildren: Tarynn Tirpak, Reese Tirpak and Tenley Cvetan; special friend: Phyllis Beals; canine companion: Annie; and his nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Patricia Cox and Beverly Cripe.
