Gary M. Thompson, Jr., 35, of Pana passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born November 22, 1982 in Decatur, IL to Gary M. & Barbara A. (Coleman) Thompson. Gary worked as a crane operator out of the Local 965 Operating Engineers and was also the owner of Coleman Tree Service. He loved the outdoors & hunting, and spending time with his children. He was a "jack of all trades" and was very proud of his farm. Gary is survived by his children: Waylon Thompson, Pana, IL; Claire Thompson & Layne Thompson, both of Forsyth, IL; mother & step father, Barbara Thompson & Mike Weddle, Pana, IL; grandmother, Thadeena Thompson, Bethalto, IL; siblings: Dawn (Jason) Gipson, Shelbyville, IL; Jodi (Josh) Lenover, Dalton City, IL; Missy Ewing, Pana, IL; Jared Snow, Pana, IL; special friend, Joey Williams; nieces & nephews: Kelsey Ewing, Davanee Lenover, Brett Reed, Bentley Lenover & Dagen Lenover. He was preceded in death by his father on September 11, 1993. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorials in Gary's honor may be made to his children.
