Gary N. Moore Obituary (1954 - 2024)

Gary N. Moore, 69 of Pontiac, IL died Thursday February 1, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held according to his wishes. Memorials in Gary’s name may be made to Pontiac JFL. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Gary was born on November 22, 1954 in Fairfield, IL, a son of Dale and Sue (Moore) Wert. He married Jean Finkenbinder on September 1, 1989 in Paducah, KY. Survivors include: Jean Pekarovich of Pontiac, IL; one son: Arian (Shannon) Moore of Winnfield, LA; grandchildren: Cooper S. Moore, Madison Machen and Tanner Machen; Siblings: Ron Wert, Bruce (Adolphne) Wert, Rod (Amy) Wert, Roger Wert and Gina (Buddy) Campo. Gary was preceded in death by his Parents. Gary was a graduate of Bloomington High School and worked at Pontiac Correctional Center for 27 ½ years as a Correctional Lieutenant. Gary served our country in the US Marine Corps from 1972-1976. He was a Harrier Mechanic-VMA 513 Flying Nightmares in the marine attack squadron. Gary greatly enjoyed his time as a JFL football coach. He was proud of having served his country during his time in the US Marine Corps. He deeply loved his son and grandchildren. He loved his God, his family and his country.
