Gail Ann Longmire Obituary (1936

Gail Ann Longmire, 87 of Cullom, IL died Friday February 16, 2024 at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac, IL. Her funeral will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 1:00pm at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, IL. Burial will be in Sullivan Center Cemetery, A visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials in Gail’s name may be made to Evenglow Senior Living Fund. Gail was born on July 21, 1936 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Russell and Hattie (Diemer) Shanks. She married Alan Longmire on May 12, 1956 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2002. Survivors include five children: Terry (Mike) Hummel, Suzanne Zettle of Naperville, IL, Robert Alan (Stephanie) Longmire of Cullom, IL, JoAnn Rasmussen of Cullom, IL and Karen (Dale) Scrogum of Pontiac, IL; eight grandchildren: Todd (Val) Hummel, Kaci Longmire, David (Gracie) Longmire, Whitney (Phil) Vinson, Sydney (Terence) Crowley, Dr, Shelby (Dr. Jake Stallbaumer) Rogers, Dylan Rogers and Payton Whitman and nine great-grandchildren: Michael, Bryan, Hayes, Hadley, Caden, Aubrey, Benjamin, Grayson and Eleanor. Gail was a graduate of Taft High School and attended the University of Illinois. She was assistant manager of H & R Block in Pontiac, IL for over 33 years. She was a member of the Cullom United Methodist Church. She was a Cub Scout volunteer and 4-H leader. Gail also was a swim/dive instructor at South Wilmington Beach Club. She and her husband Alan were instrumental in forming the Cullom Christmas Baskets program in Cullom.
