In Loving Memory
Eric David Corman
September 10, 1977-September 13, 2026
Eric David Corman, age 49 of Oakley, IL was born September 10th, 1977 in Decatur, IL and passed away in the arms of Jesus in his home on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
After 41 months of fighting, I have finally won my battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) and now sit at the feet of Jesus. I have been blessed to love and share life with my best friend and devoted wife of 14 years, Alicia Snow Corman and be the daddy to our children, Caleb Rowan Corman and Lainey Eden Corman. I also leave on earth side, my parents, David & Charlotte Corman (Lovington, IL), siblings Laura (John) Cullison (Mt. Zion, IL) and Carol (Joshua) Shipley (Marthasville, MO); I also leave earth side, 22 nieces/nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and my KY in-law family.
My time on this earth has been abundantly blessed. I’ve enjoyed farming our nearly 200 year-old family farm. Through the farm, I have met and worked with some of the hardest working co-laborers through the years. Death at 49 years of age was never on my 5 or 10 year or even in my 15 or 20 year plan….Especially not with my 6 year-old son and 9 month-old baby daughter at home and in the best years of my marriage and at the height of my farming career when this onset happened. This whole ordeal has taken so much from my family, but it has taught me some valuable insights. One of the most important lessons this journey has taught me is that your plans and God’s plans rarely align. So, remember when you’re making your plans, they really are tentative. It does you no good to complain. Complaining never gets you anywhere—only festers a bad mood. “Even if…” (Daniel 3:18). God is still good!
When is the last time you really let your friends and family know you appreciate them and invested your time in them? Your life would look a lot different without them in it, you know. If you still have your spouse earth side, spend time with them. Imagine sitting in the shoes of my wife who wishes she had just a bit more time with her husband and children together. Spend time with your kids. Put your phone down, pause your work, and give them a hug. Tell them how proud you are of them. Love all over them and invest in quality time with them. Go out regularly. See and experience things and sites with them. Nothing is too mundane. They need you. Share the plan of salvation with your kids/family. They need Jesus most of all. That’s the ONLY thing that matters in this life. My fate was met with brain cancer, but you could be gone without warning. Forever is forever—where will you spend eternity? I am saved and made whole in Heaven. What is your choice because it is a choice. I didn’t go to Heaven for being “good”. I am in Heaven because I am a born-again Believer in Christ (2 Cor 5:17).
I encourage you, if you haven’t already, find a church home that feels like HOME. In my church, I found a church family that comes along beside you, a pastor that preaches Bible Truths and a place where I feel God’s love in His people. In a lot of ways, this has been their journey as much as mine. If you’re reading this, there’s a place for you open now, on the 6th row back from the front at Prairie View Baptist Church. You’ll feel right at home.
A funeral service for Eric will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at Prairie View Baptist Church in Lake City at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bryan McDonald officiating.
