Elizabeth A. Behrens

Elizabeth Ann (Edwards) Behrens, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 9:42 a.m. at Tower Hill Healthcare Center in South Elgin. A funeral will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac. A visitation will be held from one hour prior to the time of the service. Pastor James O. Wolfe III will be officiating. Memorials in Elizabeth's memory may be made to The Undergraduate Scholarship Fund at Northwestern University.

Elizabeth was born on April 24, 1940, in Pontiac, to Hubert and Clara (Hobbs) Edwards. She married Edward Lackaff in November of 1962. He preceded her in death in May of 1965. She then married Leo Behrens on February 11, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2006. Survivors include her son Andrew (Jennifer Boss) Behrens of Chicago, IL; one granddaughter: Ella Behrens of St. Louis, MO; and one brother: James Edwards of Springfield, IL.

Elizabeth graduated from Pontiac High School in 1958. She continued her education at Northwestern and graduated from there in 1962. She obtained her master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northern Illinois University. Elizabeth worked as an educator and guidance counselor for over 25 years, first in Plainfield and later at West Chicago Community High School. Elizabeth was a loving mother, grandmother and a faithful friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
