Elizabeth Anne Patterson Obituary (1934

Elizabeth Anne “Betty Anne” Patterson 89 of Pontiac, IL died Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10:33AM . Funeral services will be held at the Pontiac First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, IL, on January 15, 2024 at 1pm with Pastor Sylvester Weatherall officiating. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service also at the church. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac, IL following the services. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church-Pontiac, IL. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Betty was born on December 26, 1934 in Pontiac, IL., a daughter of Amos and Thelma (Grush) Verdun. She married Donald Richard Patterson on July 9, 1955 in Dwight, IL. He passed away on May 6, 2020. Also surviving is one son: Don Patterson of Honolulu, HI; two daughters: Cynthia Patterson of Pontiac, IL and Cheri (John) Dozier of Quincy, IL; brother, Harold Verdun of Odell; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Christian) Ritter, Emily (Dave) Samuels, Valerie, Desiree and Jenelle Patterson; two great grandchildren: Anna and Isabel Ritter; one great grandchild due in March; one nephew: Tom Patterson and one niece: Margaret Patterson; great nephews, Daniel and Matthew Patterson. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter in infancy and one brother-in law and sister-in-law: Herschel (Josephine) Patterson. Betty was a more than 60 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Pontiac, IL where she was very active in the church. She helped with vacation bible school, harvest bazaars and worked in the kitchen but will be especially remembered for her wonderful pies. She was a 1952 graduate of Odell Community High School. She was past president of the United Methodist Women. She took an active role in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives attending sporting and school activities, horse shows and musicals. She was a den mother for Cub scouts and helped with girl scouts and 4-H. She was a lovely role model and her family was very important to her. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
