Eleanor L Holcomb

Eleanor L. Holcomb 86, of Decatur, IL passed away at 4:05 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service to celebrate Eleanor's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Decatur. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday until service time at the church. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter or Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County. Eleanor was born August 13, 1929, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Otto F. and Anna (Sablotny) Kwasny. She attended the Lutheran Schools in Decatur and went on to attend Eastern Illinois University. She married Dean D. Holcomb on February 29, 1952. She worked as secretary to the Provost at Millikin University. She was a charter member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, birdwatching, tending to her flowers, and shopping.

Surviving are her husband: Dean of Decatur; daughters: Leslie G. Bennick of Decatur, Sally B. Holcomb of Decatur, Kelly L. Holcomb and her husband Robert Griffin of Decatur, and Elizabeth A. Clayton and her husband Brian of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Jamie L. Hunsicker and her husband Kevin of Decatur, Casey D. Coffman and his wife Stephanie of Decatur, R. Matt McMillan and his wife Amber of Mattoon, Kara Granadino and her husband Greg of Mahomet, Amy N. Snyder of Nokomis, and Quinn Clayton of Mt. Zion; twelve great-grandchildren also survive.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.
