Edder Diaz Garcia

Edder H. Diaz Garcia, 13, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

His funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. Mary’s Church, Bloomington with Rev. Adam Stimpson officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

Edder was born November 8, 2012, in Normal, the son of Edder R. Diaz and Adriana Garcia.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, Nicky Olivares; maternal grandparents, Francisco Garcia and Juana Lopez and paternal grandparents, Rosabel Martinez and Carlos Diaz.

Edder was a seventh grader at Parkside Junior High School, where he ran track and cross country and played the trombone in the school band. He was also in taekwondo and was recently accepted into the String Project at Illinois State University.

Edder was a happy, humble, extremely kind, hard loving young man who loved to help others. He always looked after and cared for those with disabilities. He dreamed of being a cardiologist and was worried about living a healthy lifestyle. He also tried to educate others to take care of the earth.

Edder’s family knew that he made an impact but recently learned how much more he meant to his fellow students and staff at school.

Edder gave the gift of life by being an organ donor.
