Doyle L Blackwell Obituary (1930 - 2012)

Doyle L. Blackwell, 82 of Decatur, IL went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 10:00 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14th at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. A graveside service to celebrate Doyle's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Military Rites will be provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association. Mr. Blackwell was born on October 5, 1930 in Norwood, MO, the son of Arvil and Teresa (Saladin) Blackwell. Doyle was a retired truck driver from Teamsters Local 279 and served proudly with the United States Navy, being honorably discharged in 1950. He married Anna V. Gerk on December 19, 1959, his bride of 53 years. Surviving is his wife Anna V. Blackwell, Decatur, IL; sons: James Doyle Blackwell and his wife Donna of Forsyth, IL, Erick Donald Blackwell and his wife Mikki of Decatur, IL; 3 Grandchildren: Kyle, Teresa and Katie Blackwell; brothers and sisters: Don Blackwell of Nevada, Elmer Blackwell of Missouri, Roberta Williams of Missouri and Annie Clayton of Missouri.
