Douglas Edwin Thomas

Douglas Edwin Thomas, 59, Phoenix, AZ, passed away 9:33 PM August 10, 2021, at home.

No services are planned at this time. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with cremation rites.

Born on April 26, 1962, in Bloomington, IL, Doug was the son of Barbara J. (Behrends) Thomas and Richard Edwin Thomas.

Doug graduated from University High School in Normal, IL (1980) and Illinois Wesleyan University (1984), where he played center on the basketball team and was a Sigma Chi member. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University in St. Louis (1987). For 26 years, he practiced law in Phoenix, and served on the Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board for 12 years.

His passions included fly fishing, music, travel, theater, family, and his German Shepherds.
His advice to anyone: "Aren't we lucky?" or "Zip-a-Dee-Doo Dah!"

He is now reunited with his parents, sons Brett and Alec, close friend Vern Frost and many others.

He is survived by many relatives, two stepchildren and friends who dearly loved him.
