Dorothy D. Tripp

Dorothy D. Tripp, 86, of Pontiac, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Evalde, TX.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac, IL. Reverend Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL.

Dorothy was born on October 28, 1927 in Kansas City, MO, daughter of Ulysses G. and Melba V. (Fairchild) Crandell. She married Orville Chasten on October 30, 1943 in Arcadia, MO. He passed away on September 9, 1963. She later married James Tripp on July 16, 1967 in Farmington, MO. He passed away in 2005.

She is survived by her sons, Ray Chasten of Des Moines, IA, Norman Chasten of Texas, and James Chasten of Phoenix, AZ; her daughters, Mary (Jim) Slayton of Benton, IL, Norma Bishop of Iowa, and Deanna (David) Schultz of Chenoa, IL; one sister, Bernice (Earl) Childers of Pontiac, IL; 23 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Orville; second husband, James; one son, Stanley Chasten; and two daughters, Darlene Van Putten and Deborah Helmick.

Dorothy worked at the Chair Factory in Pontiac for 12 years, then as a nurse's aide for 7 years at Livingston Manor, and finally in home health care for 10 years.
