Dorothy M. Cusac Obituary (1927

TOLUCA- Dorothy Marie (Weppler) Cusac, 97, of Toluca, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at The Arc at Streator in Streator. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, 116 N. Walnut St., Toluca, IL 61369, with a visitation 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Burial will follow services at Rutland Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Eastern Marshall County EMS, 210 N. Chestnut St, Wenona, IL 61377, Toluca Library, 102 N. Main St., Toluca, IL 61369, or to Rutland Christian Church, P.O. Box 1, Rutland, IL 61358. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home in Toluca is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born in Rutland, Illinois on October 10, 1927, a daughter to Oscar L. and Hazel M. (Marshall) Weppler. She married Sherman G. Cusac in Rutland on August 31, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1998. Surviving are her children, Penny (Lynn) Kunkle, Hilton Head, SC, Jerry (Elise) Cusac, Rutland; grandchildren, Nathan (Amy) Kunkle, Jared (Rachel) Kunkle, Bradley (Sonja) Cusac, Eric Cusac, Ashley (Greg) Ruestman; sister, Bonnie Sparks, Ottawa; 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. Dorothy was a member of Rutland Christian Church, and later she became a member of Antioch Christian Church in Toluca. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1945 and from Illinois State University in 1948. She worked in education as a teacher for many years where she taught at Toluca, Long Point, and Wenona Schools. She was involved with the food pantry and with the library in Toluca. She most enjoyed the time that she could spend with her family and especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
