Dorothy Jean Guth Obituary (1945 - 2024)

Roanoke: Dorothy Jean Guth, 78, of Roanoke and formerly of Washburn, passed away Saturday April 20, 2024, 12:10 pm at her home in Roanoke. Visitation will be Wednesday April 24, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, Washburn. Funeral services will be Thursday 10:30 am at the memorial home, with an hour prior visitation. Pastor Mark Gruden will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Washburn. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude. Dorothy was born August 9, 1945, in Roanoke, IL to Joseph and Frances (Cox) Hountz. She married William I. Guth Jr., on January 23, 1961, in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2012. Surviving are her children, Angela (Richie) Anderson, of Washington, David (Kay) Guth, of Roanoke, Cynthia (Brian) Zick-Blunier, of Roanoke, Lori (Jeff) Keeling, of Summersville, MO., and Tammy Guth, of Roanoke, sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Shirley Noll, of East Peoria and Cheryl Simmons, of Eureka. Her parents, one brother Larry and one sister, Judy, and one son William I. Guth III, preceded her in death. Dorothy was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Washburn, and its Ladies Aid Society. She was a homemaker, who will be remembered for her cooking and baking. Dorothy was a great fan of Elvis and the Oak Ridge Boy’s. She and her husband were followers of the Illinois Country Opry.
