Dorothy Burgener

Dorothy Ann Burgener died January 23, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was the daughter of Russell and Velma (Doolen) Appleman. Mrs. Burgener attended Decatur Schools District, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, and the University of Illinois. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society. She married Harry John Burgener, Jr. She retired after thirty-two years of teaching and enjoyed travel and genealogy.

She leaves her son, Curtis Burgener, his wife Arlene, three grandchildren - Eric, Julie and Jacob, and three great-grandchildren - Milanna, Briella and Zyara.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Alma Wilson, of Roswell, New Mexico.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Calvert & Wikoff North Funeral Home is assisting the family with services. Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at calvertmemorial.com.
