Doris M. Idle

Doris M. Idle, 97, of Heyworth, IL, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2026, at The United Church of Heyworth. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. also at the church with Pastor Carl Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to The United Church of Heyworth. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home of Heyworth, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris was born April 19, 1929, in Gibson City, IL, a daughter of Dr. Albert Lee and Mary Neva (Newport) Potts. She married William “Bill” Herbert Idle April 6, 1952, in Gibson City, IL. He passed away in 2006.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Gwyn MacQuarrie, Laura (Jon) Pritts, and Russell (Nichole) Idle; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and three sisters.

Doris was a member of The United Church of Heyworth. Her faith was so important to her life. She taught music for 32 years, 25 of which were in Park Ridge, IL. Doris and Bill traveled the world together and she loved every year going to their summer home in Canada. Doris was known to always have a tune in her head and would always be humming a song. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
