Donna Yvonne Doss, age 84, of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 1:38 AM on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Carle BroMenn Hospital in Normal, Illinois.

Born on November 1, 1940, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Donna was the beloved daughter of Jerome and Velma May Knight Lane. She married Larry Doss on December 30, 1959, in Bloomington, Illinois. Larry survives her, sharing in the sorrow of her passing.

Donna was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and her boundless love and kindness were felt by all who knew her.

She is survived by her six children: Angela (Rodney) Hamblin, Downs of Illinois, Tina (Steve) Burton of Bloomington, Illinois, Theresa Smithson of Ellsworth, Illinois, Larry (Dee) Doss Jr. of Elliott, Illinois, Marnie (Gary) Streeter of Waynesville, Illinois, and Shalayne Doss of Bloomington, Illinois. Donna also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Corky Green of Osage Beach, Missouri, and her brother, Perry (Shar) Lane of Melvin, Illinois.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Hazel Doss; her brother, Jerry Lane; two sons-in-law, Jay Smithson and John VanHorn; her brother-in-law, Ralph Doss; and four cherished grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Illinois. Reverend Gifty Roberts Smith will officiate. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Shriners Hospital.

Arrangements are entrusted to Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Illinois.

Donna’s legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Her memory will forever be treasured by her family, friends, and community. Her grandchildren will be pallbearers.
