Donis Mae Funk Obituary (1920

Donis Mae Funk, 87, of Pana, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in her home. She was born March 11, 1920 in Rosamond, IL, the daughter of Robert Marie (Barker) Barber. A graduate of Taylorville High School, Class of 1938, she attended Eastern Illinois University from 1938-1941. She graduated from Greenville College in June 1961 with a B.S. in Education. Donis began her teaching career at Union School in Christian County in 1941. She continued to teach for 29 more years and retired from Pana Community School District in 1981. She was a member of Pana United Methodist Church United Methodist Women; member past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Chapter; member past president of Christian County Retired Teachers Association; Past Matron of Rosalind Chapter #736 Order of the Eastern Star, Owaneco; and past president of Tuesday Club, Pana. Donis was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and teacher. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was united in marriage with Melvin Eugene (Gene) Funk on March 4, 1945. Her husband, Gene Funk of Pana survives along with their children: John Funk wife Sherri and Earleen Hartrich husband Dave, both of Decatur; Tom Funk wife Luann, Pana; Mary Stopper husband John, Harper, KS; 6 grandchildren: Shelly Funk, Sandy Funk, Jason Stopper wife Emily, Justin Stopper, Drew Hartrich, Cameron Funk; 2 step grandchildren: Jason Chad Hartrich; 3 great grandchildren: Cody Burns, Lindy Holgarth, Shelby Holgarth; 3 step great grandchildren: Mariah Hartrich, Logan Hartrich, Matthew Hartrich. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Carmen (Cecil) Moore, Hammond, IN; Betty (Lawrence) Nicol, Pana, IL; Roberta Barber, Assumption, IL. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale Kooi and Rev. In-Sook Hwang officiating. Burial will be in Millersville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Eastern Star rites at 8:00 p.m. by the Rosalind Chapter #736 Order of the Easter Star, Owaneco.
