Diann D. Sears Obituary (1940

Diann D. Sears, 77, of Normal, passed away at 9:20 a.m., Monday, March 05, 2018 at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Normal. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with Deacon Bob Hermes officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Capland Speech Therapy Center, 2660 Aero Dr., Port Arthur, TX 77640. Diann was born September 30, 1940 in Port Arthur, TX, the daughter of Otis J. and Jewel Floyd Davis Duplantis. She married Joseph L. Sears on September 10, 1983 in Houston, TX. He died on January 25, 2011. She is survived by her step-children, Joseph (Kathy) Sears and Sharon (Bill) Steele, both of Bethalto; and Laura (Tim) Loyd of Florida; seven grandchildren, Adina Morfoot, Patrick Sears, Andrew Sears, Nathan Loyd, Lindsey Loyd, Samantha McNulty and Callie Sears; six great-grandchildren, Emily and Joey Morfoot, Eva and Maya McNulty, Liam and Dax Sears; three nephews, Robert Duplantis, David Duplantis and Marvin Farquhar and a niece, Susan Burnett. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, JD Duplantis. Diann graduated from Lamar Tech in Texas with a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She held many positions such as running a lab in Texas, educational coordinator, gave lectures at hospitals and volunteered her time with Medico which took her to Algiers. Medico is an organization that brings medicine to those in need through international cooperation. Diann loved traveling with her husband and had been to the Grand Canyon, the Panama Canal and tried to visit Florida each year. She also enjoyed working in the yard and reading a great novel.
