Diane Janice Cordero Obituary (1942

Diane Janice (Kubias) Cordero, 81, of Danvers, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Carle Hospice in Normal, IL. A one-hour visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, August 26 at Beck Funeral Home, 209 E. Grove St., Bloomington, IL. Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Diane was born September 17, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy Vivian (nee Ashbaugh) Kubias. She married Manuel Cordero on September 30, 1989, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, IA. A graduate from Illinois Central College, she retired after many years of service in Accounting at BroMenn. Diane enjoyed going out for a good meal and being the navigator on little drives with her husband. She loved spending time with family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and dear friends and neighbors. She hosted many holiday celebrations, always knowing the perfect gift to give. Diane loved making people feel special, and she was always willing to share her beautiful smile and a kind word to lift someone’s spirit. She loved flowers of all kinds, especially dahlias, sunflowers, and hydrangeas. And she enjoyed a good Hallmark movie, or reading books about Amish life. The family would like to thank Dr. Sriratana, and the Carle Hospice team of nurses, aides, social workers, and pastoral staff, for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Diane. Diane is survived by her loving husband, Manuel, daughters Michele (Jeff) Graber, and Lisa Helgen. stepson Manuel (Dianna) Cordero Jr., and stepdaughter Rita (nee Cordero) Gitersonke; Diane’s brother, Steven (Lyn) Kubias, and sister, Sue (Richard) Cook. Grandchildren Mark (Dana) Luttrell, Samara (Ryan) Brown, Tara Shane, and Sara Shane, Elisha Helgen, Alexander (Gabrielle) Cordero, Karina Cordero, Nicholas Cordero, Mark Gitersonke Jr., and Karly Gitersonke; niece Nicole Cook, nephew Ryan Cook, and several other nieces and nephews, and 9 great grandchildren. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Richard Kubias, stepdaughter, Carmen Cordero, and great grandson, John Gabriel.
