Deborah Carlton

Bloomington- Deborah D. Carlton ,66, passed away on December 29, 2025 in Bloomington, IL. She was born on August 30, 1959 at Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington, IL; the daughter of Martha Elaine Valentine and Frederick Everett Carlton.
Debbie is survived by one nephew: Max Carlton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother: Brad Carlton.
Debbie graduated from Bloomington High School in 1977 and attended Illinois State University.
Debbie was self-employed during her working years. As a youth, she participated for many years in the Passion Play and other Theatrical Performances. She was a passionate, long-time volunteer and spokesperson for many dog related organizations.
Debbie faced many significant medical challenges throughout her life and finally succumbed to cancer. Her last seven years were spent at Arcadia Care where she made many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 17, 2026, at Calvert Metzler Memorial Home, 1115 East Washington Street, Bloomington, IL 61701 with Rev. Nic Showalter officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am, one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. There will be no graveside services. Memorials may be made in Debbie’s name to the Springfield Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road Springfield, IL 62702.
