David L. "Arkie" Arkebauer Obituary (1955 - 2018)

David L. "Arkie" Arkebauer, 63, of Oconee passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Oconee. He was born April 26, 1955 in Hillsboro, IL to the late John G. & Nellie Alice (Washburn) Arkebauer. Arkie was a union ironworker for Local #46 but was a jack of all trades and like to build things. He also did furniture upholstery & refinishing. With Arkie, there was never a dull moment; he could guide you through anything and taught a lot of people a lot of things. He never let anything stop him and didn't know a stranger. David L. Arkebauer married Marsha Jackson on June 26, 1983 at their home in White Oaks Bottom and she survives in Oconee, along with children: Bob Arkebauer (fiancee Terri), Oconee, IL; Gabe (Wendi) Rivera, Albuquerque, NM; Amy (Matt) Moore, Loami, IL; grandchildren: Robbie Gatons, Budda Gatons, Ashlee (John) Stadler, Alex Rivera, Nicole Arkebauer, Tyler Moore, Kiersten Moore, Alyssa Moore, Tiffany Moore; great grandchildren: Justice Reed, Colin Reed, Colton Gatons, Cayneysha Gatons, Dominick Budz, Kylee Gatons, Anthony Stadler, Dillon Gatons, Jayce Gatons, Damon Gatons, Tater Gatons and sister, Alice Arkebauer, Pana, IL; brother-in-law Andy Jackson of Nokomis and extended family Leroy, April and Bubby Dunn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Willie Jo; sister, Doris E. Shafer and daughter-in-law, Vicki Arkebauer. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Edmund Hill officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery, Oconee. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorials in Arkie's honor may be made to the family.
