Mount Zion, Illinois

David Alan Krause of Mt. Zion, Illinois, passed away after a courageous two year health battle on December 12, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on December 6, 1959, to Charles “Chuck” and Beverly “Bird” (Willson) Krause. He married the love of his life, Jeri Sue Ferguson, on July 28, 1984, in Decatur, Illinois.

David graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1978 and from Millikin University with his Bachelor's in Accounting in 1982. David began working at Decatur Ambulance in 1979 and worked there for his entire 41-year career. He was passionate about serving his community well.

David’s relationship with Jesus was of utmost importance to him. As long as he was able, he requested his favorite songs and raised his hands in worship. He was a faithful member of Renaissance Church and loved letting people know that his son works there.

David loved going to the beach in Florida with Sue and his family. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Disney World and spoiling them rotten. His children and his grandchildren were truly the light of his life.

Remaining to cherish David’s memory and build upon the legacy he left are his wife, Sue, children: Andrew, Ashley Kennedy (Jared), Chris (Tori), and Matt (Teaven), grandchildren: Jude, Everett, Audrey, Jacqueline, Graham, Cooper, and Charleigh, brother: Kenny (Hanh), in-laws: David Ferguson (Jean) and Vicki Wrigley (Jim), nieces and nephews: Ryan Ferguson (Danica), Sarah Park (Jared), Conor Wrigley (Madison), and Kate Pletsch (Austin), special friends: Rachel, Steve, Jacob, and Ella Spaide, and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, David and Barbara Ferguson, and sister, Julie.
