David A. Simmons Obituary (1954 - 2024)

David A. Simmons, 69, of Campus, IL. passed away, Friday, May 17, 2024 in Dwight, IL. According to David’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials in honor of David may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. David was born at Fort Riley, Kansas, just outside of Junction City on August 28, 1954, to Charles E. and Carol (Rosnett) Simmons. Surviving family include son, Jason (Kimberly) Simmons of Campus, IL; daughter, Jamie Horton of Odell, IL; sister, Diana (Glenn) Leerhoff of Clark, MO; brothers, Dale (Val) Simmons of Buckingham, IL, Douglas (Lori) of Braidwood, IL; grandchildren, Quinley Simmons, Clyde Simmons, Cole Bradbury and Carter Horton. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Carol Simmons. David worked for many years at Dibble Trucking but in his free time he loved to spend time with his family, farming, fishing and sometimes listen to his country music favorites. He also enjoyed having coffee with his buddy “Chuck”. He leaves behind a loving family that will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
