Claude S. Campbell

Claude S. Campbell, 97, of Taylorville, died at 9:15 PM Thursday, February 14, 2002 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. He was born September 13, 1904 in Chanute, Tennessee, the son of John and Rohanna Davidson Campbell. On March 18, 1936 he married Vena Robinson in Havana, IL and she preceded in death in November 1979. He then married Celie Stewart in Taylorville on August 28, 1982 and she preceded in death in 1997.

Mr. Campbell was a machinist for Peabody Coal Company at Mine #8 and was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 9819. He was also a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, FL.

Surviving are: Son, Donald Robinson and wife Donna of Springfield, IL; daughter, Maxine Large and husband Ronald of Owaneco, IL and a sister, Blanche Besson of Taylorville. There are 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, 1 Brother Harold Campbell and 2 sisters, Velma Wattelet and Violet Brown.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, February 18, 2002 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL with Pastor Michael Branch officiating. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery, Grove City, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2002 in the funeral home.
