Clatis Clay McGuire Obituary (1943

Clatis "Clay" McGuire, 73, of Pontiac, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 10:10 p.m. at his home. His service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom, IL with Pastor Mauricio Vieira officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded with inurnment at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Clay was born November 4, 1943 in Lenore, West Virginia to Clatis and Gladys (Markham) McGuire, Sr. He married Connie Kurtenbach on July 14, 1990 in Cornell, IL. She survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are his children, James Phelps, Richard Phelps, and Todd McGuire; step-children, Steve (Chris) Billerbeck of Cullom, IL and Rodney (Barbara) Billerbeck of Cullom, IL; sisters, Mary (Troy) Varney of Crum, WV and Lois Richmond of Louisa, KY; grandchildren, Anna, Margie, Sophie, Brittany, and Rodney II; sister-in-law, Carol Schade and brother-in-law, Gary Kurtenbach, who were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peg and Everett Kurtenbach; brother-in-law, Robert Richmond; and sister-in-law, Patty Perzee Clay served in the United States Air Force Special Services and worked at Caterpillar for 35 years doing machine calibration. Clay loved carpentry and doing building projects. He enjoyed following and discussing politics. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially kids, grandkids, and his best friend and wife, Connie. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
