Chet Metzger

Chet Metzger, 68, of Pana passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in Pana Community Hospital. He was born September 18, 1957 in Pana, son of the late Julius W. Metzger, Jr. & Phyllis Joan (Wehrle) Metzger – Zindel. Chet and Vicky Daley were united in marriage on September 18, 1993 in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Dollville and she survives.
Chet was a graduate of Assumption High School & Dale Carnegie program. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Dollville, where he was President of the church council. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge & Masonic Lodge, both in Pana. Farming was in his blood; every conversation always led back to farming. Chet also worked for CH Metzger Implement, Sloan’s Implement, Birkey’s & International Paper. He was the biggest cheerleader for his grandchildren and attended every event he could.
In addition to his wife, Chet is survived by his sons: Joseph (Kristen) Metzger, Collinsville, OK and Brad (Marissa) Metzger, Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Nolan, Zoey, Rhett, Owen, Madden, Mabry, Boston & Journey and siblings: Chuck (Joanna) Metzger, Marco Island, FL; Julie (Jim) Ethington, Petoskey, MI; Audrey McLeod, Assumption, IL; Kim (Phil) Myers, Moweaqua, IL. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Annette Klein and brothers-in-law, Mike McLeod & Mike Martin.
Funeral services for Chet will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Dollville at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Neil Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul United Cemetery, Dollville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
Memorials in Chet’s honor may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Dollville or Central A & M FFA and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
