Charlotte L. Ropp-Giles 95, of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:14 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2024, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL. A graveside service to honor Charlotte’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Woodlawn (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL. Charlotte was born September 5, 1928, in Vernon, Illinois the daughter of Louis and Hazel (Halbrook) Olmstead. She was a homemaker and had formerly worked as a CNA at Fair Havens Christian Home. Charlotte married James L. Ropp Sr. He passed away in 1965. She later married Richard L. Giles. He preceded her in death in 2007. Charlotte enjoyed crocheting and was described as an awesome Mother to her children. Surviving are her children: James Ropp Jr. (Cindy) of Earleton, FL, Charlene Ropp Ringo (Gary) of Newberry, FL, Karen Ropp Payne (Richard Galik) of San Antonio, TX, Lisa Ropp Walker (Danny Underwood) of Mt. Zion, IL, Lori Ropp Walker (Robert Walker) of Argenta, IL, Tammy Ropp Walker (Bob Regguinti) of East Peoria, IL, Vicki Cook (Tom) of Decatur, IL and Sally Meyers (Jerry) of Decatur; sister: Deleria Chatam of East Saint Louis, IL; twenty grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren also survive. Charlotte was preceded in death by both of her husbands, parents, daughter: Cheryl Ropp-Merkel, sons: Tommy Ropp and Stan Giles; sisters: Doris Emerick and Oleata Mitchell.
