Charlotte J. Leach Obituary (1931

Bloomington- Charlotte J. Leach, 94, passed away on September 13, 2025, at her home in Bloomington, IL, surrounded by her daughters. She was born on April 3,1931, in Bement, IL, daughter of Gail R. and Clara (Osburn) Tiffin. She married Delend K. Leach on November 14, 1954. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2000. Surviving Charlotte are her daughters: Gail Cox (Ed) of Heyworth, IL, Mary Leach of Bloomington, IL, and Martha Lyons (Bill) of Heyworth, IL, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Helen Tiffin, of Savoy, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother, William D. Tiffin. Charlotte was a Registered Nurse and a 1952 graduate of Mennonite School of Nursing. She was a member of the Illinois State University’s Mennonite Nurses Alumni Organization (MNAO), Firemen’s Wives Club, Christian Women’s Fellowship, and was a devoted member of Centennial Christian Church. She was also an assistant Girl Scout leader for Troop 222 – Centrillio Girl Scout Council. Charlotte loved to read, an avocation she passed down to her daughters. She loved attending activities for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed knitting, singing, and visiting with friends and family in McDowell, VA. She was very proud that she voted in every election since she was eligible to vote, and encouraged others to do the same. Cremation rites are entrusted to Beck Memorial Home in Bloomington, IL. A private family graveside service will be held later at Lexington Cemetery. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Centennial Christian Church in Bloomington IL, visitation to begin at 10 a.m., with the celebration service to follow. Memorial contributions can be made in Charlotte’s name to the ISU Mennonite Nurses Alumni Organization (MNAO) scholarship fund, Centennial Christian Church, or Best Buddies – Central Illinois. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her much loved cat, Casper.
