Charles E. Smith, Jr.

Charles E. “Jr” Smith, Jr, 73, of Normal, passed away Monday May 19, 2025, 3:43 pm at his home in Normal.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 28, 2025, from, 9:00 to 11:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca is in charge of arrangements.
Jr. was born December 1, 1951, in Streator, IL to Charles E. and Edna K. (Rodewald) Smith, Sr.
Surviving is his sister, Darlene Smith, of Toluca, his best friend, Jessica (Josh) Chrisman, of Springfield, sisters-in-law’s, Kathleen Smith and Mary Lou Smith, four nephews, Stephen (Kim) Smith, Kevin Smith, Chris (Yesica) Smith, Troy (Wendy) Petrimoulx, two nieces, Deborah (Len) Howard, and Jill (Jason) Smith, grand nephews, Derric (Rebecca) Smith and Brandon (Jessica) Hockaday, and great nieces, Olivia and Aisla and nephew, Levi.
His parents, three brothers, Edward, William and Donald Smith, and infant brother, preceded him in death.
Jr had currently worked at Meijer’s Store, Normal. Before that he was a middle school teacher in the Cornell School district, worked in banking with computer programing, and was a long-haul truck driver for Swift Trucking. He had graduated from Western Illinois University.
Jr loved to travel and drive. He would often drive from his home in Normal to his hometown of Toluca. The biggest love in his life was tracing the Smith family genealogy, spending a large amount of time on the history of his family.
