Catherine H. Kay Rechtin

Catherine H. "Kay" Rechtin, 82, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:15 am Wednesday, March 08, 2006 at her residence. She was born July 24, 1923 in Batesville, AR, the daughter of Clarence Puckett and Gertrude Hamilton Holmes. On May 20, 1943 she married George L. Rechtin, Jr. in Fayetteville, AR. She was a homemaker and was previously employed at Edward's Jewelers, and as a proofreader at the Breeze Courier. Mrs. Rechtin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville where she was active in the bazaars, sewing and teaching Sunday School, Presbyterian Women's Association where she received the Lifetime Achievement Award, member of King's Unit of Christian County Home Extension, and Peter Meyer Chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution.

Surviving are her husband George L. Rechtin, Jr. of Taylorville; son Michael David Rechtin Sr. and wife Elisabeth of Chicago; daughter, Kathy A. Coady and husband John of Taylorville; 6 Grandchildren: Michael D. Rechtin of Chicago, Thomas P. Rechtin of Butler, PA; Matthew Rechtin of New York, NY; Craig Coady of Glen Ellyn, IL; Maureen Coady of Chicago, IL and Andrea Coady of Taylorville. There are 4 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, March 11, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Pastor Bob Spurgin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, March 10 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.
