Carl E. Herb Obituary (1929

Carl E. "Ed" Herb, 90, of Dwight, IL formerly of Cabery, IL passed away at 3:10 pm on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Heritage Health in Dwight, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elmwood, IL. Memorials in Carl's name may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation. Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL is handling the arrangements. Ed was born on May 29, 1929 in Emington, IL a son of Roy and Mary Ellen (Weirman) Herb. He married Marceline Roggenburg on September 30, 1950 in Cabery, IL. She survives in Dwight, Il. Also surviving is one brother: Bob (Darlene) Herb of Lemont, IL; one brother in law: Bob (Shirley) Roggenburg of Cabery, IL and several nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Betty Herb. Ed was a car salesman for Detzler Pontiac in Oswego,IL for many years. During his time as a salesman he won many awards which allowed him to take his wife to the World's Fair, Paris, London and Hawaii. His first love was his wife and his second was fishing. Over the years he taught three generations of his family to hunt and fish on his many trips north to Canada where he was also seen as family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all his life. Ed also enjoyed boating with family and friends, he and his wife had many adventures up and down the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
