Brooksie Lee Styron Obituary (1928

Bloomington - Brooksie Lee Styron, 90 of Bloomington passed away at 7:04 PM on Friday April 5, 2019 at St Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Brooksie was born August 14, 1928 in McKinzie, TN to Thomas Buford and Allie (Beatrice) Vaughn Montgomery. She married Harvey Styron on April 20, 1957 in Gleason, TN after her graduation as a Registered Nurse and his discharge from the US Navy. She is survived by three children and seven grandchildren, Linda Lee Weger of Sutton, MA and her son R. J. Weger, Harvey R. Styron Jr. also of Sutton, MA and his two children Matthew Styron and Andii Styron, and Karen (Jack) Kuntz of Goodfield, IL and their four children, Danielle Kuntz (Travis Jensen, fiance), Joseph (Jaelyn) Kuntz, Jaclyn (Grant) Peters and Mitchell Kuntz. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Brooksie was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington where she was active as a Deacon, a Parrish Nurse and sang for many years in the Chapel Choir. She served as a Head Nurse at Mennonite Hospital, House Supervisor at BroMenn Medical Center and worked for several years as a part time nurse in local OSF Doctor's offices. She retired (for the third time) in November of 2012 after having touched a great many lives in her over sixty-five years of nursing. Her smiling face and tender touch will be greatly missed by many. Brooksie's family invites you to Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington on April 20, 2019 for a visitation at 10:00 AM, a Celebration of Life at 11:00, followed by a luncheon. Reverend Kathy Stoner-Lasala will officiate. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church.
