Brandon Thomas Cruse Obituary (1990

Brandon Thomas Cruse, 23, of Bloomington, passed away at 12:09 pm, Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home.His funeral will be at 11:00 am, Thursday (5-29-14) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington with Rev. R. Anthony Lee and Monsignor Douglas Hennessy officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday (5-28-14) at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Sweet Home Mission.Brandon was born on November 13, 1990 in Bloomington, the son of Ben Thomas "Tom" and Nancy L. Hennenfent Cruse.He is survived by his mother, Nancy Cruse of Bloomington; four siblings, Alex Cruse of Bloomington, Kendra Cruse of St. Louis, MO, Michaela Cruse and Charles Cruse, both of Bloomington; paternal grandfather, Ben T. Cruse of Cleveland, Ohio, maternal grandparents, Michael and Betty Hennenfent of Monmouth; five maternal uncles, George (Janelle) Hennenfent, Frank (Jan) Hennenfent, Nick Hennenfent, Brad Hennenfent and Steve (Judy) Hennenfent; a paternal aunt, Denise Zak; and many cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother, Adam Michael, paternal grandmother, Idana R. Cruse and a paternal aunt Debbie Cruse.Brandon graduated from Central Catholic High School in 2009. He owned and operated My Uncle"s Closet in Bloomington; creating merchandise related to the music that he loved. Brandon created and manufactured many of the items himself. He had a love of music, played guitar, mandolin and sang at open mic nights. He was proficient at improvising music with many themes, his favorite topic being his siblings. He attended many music festivals and loved bluegrass music.Brandon loved being outdoors and preferred walking to driving. He also loved golf and tennis.The thing that people most often comment on when it comes to Brandon is his kindness and concern for other people. Recently when the family was out to dinner, a young man in his 20"s came up to the table and addressed Brandon. He handed Brandon a five dollar bill and said, "You probably don"t remember me, but a year or so ago, I didn"t have the money for the bus and you paid my way. I just wanted to say thank you and pay you back." Then the young man walked away. This act of kindness was typical of Brandon.Brandon was a creative and charismatic, loyal and loving person whose smile lit up a room. Above all, Brandon cherished his time with his family. He came into this world at 6 pounds 5 ounces and left this world at 6 feet 5 inches tall.
