Betty Mae Davis Obituary (1940

Betty Mae Davis, age 84, of Streator, IL, passed away peacefully at 8:42 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL. A private family graveside will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Streator, IL. Rev. James O. Wolfe III will be officiating. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Betty was born on April 12, 1940, in Cissna Park, IL, to Roy W. and May Bertha (McKinney) Harweger. She married the love of her life, Larry C. Davis, on February 6, 1960. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2008. Survivors include her children: Barbara Furtney of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, Laura Davis of Columbia, MO, and Beth Cosby of Blackstone, IL; six grandchildren: Matthew Furtney, Joshua Furtney, Isaac Furtney, Zachary Harlan, Wesley Harlan, and Alexandria Harlan; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Edith Ehrhardt and William Harweger, and her wonderful caretaker for the last 16 years, Vesna Gladic. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and May B. Harweger, her loving husband of 48 years: Larry C. Davis, and two brothers: Roger Harweger and Ronald Harweger. Betty graduated from Chenoa High School. She worked at Sears in Pontiac for several years before staying home to take care of her family. She was an avid bowler and reader. She always enjoyed time with her family. She was the best wife, mom, and grandma to her family that she adored with her whole heart. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
