Bernita L King

Bernita L. (Harrell) King, 80, of Elwin, IL passed away on Thursday (Sept. 20, 2012) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Bernita's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 22, 2012) at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 21, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois or Zion Chapel United Methodist Church.
Bernita was born on July 13, 1932 in Wayne County, IL, the daughter of George Bernice and Freda B. (Ellis) Harrell. She married Gene King on September 8, 1951 in Blue Mound, IL and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary at the wedding of their granddaughter Kim. She was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church and Elwin Home Extension.
Surviving are her husband: Gene King of Elwin, IL; son: Randy G. (Karen) King of Lombard, IL; daughters: Rita K. (Rick) Lowe of Taylorville, IL, Renae K. (David) Overlin of Long Creek, IL and Roxanne K. Roush of Mt. Zion, IL; nine grandchildren: Kim (Patrick) Failing, Kyle (Elizabeth) King, Kaitlin King (fianc Alex Teater), Keith King, Kelly (Cory) Savage, Kory Lowe, Jesse Overlin, Lindsay Overlin and Megan (Brad) Jesse; special step grandchildren: Kelly (Chris) Piche and Kory Roush; four great grandchildren: Landen Savage, Mason Savage, Sydney Jesse and Kate Piche; She leaves a sister: Devona Dummermuth of Forsyth, IL and a brother: Don (Nancy) Harrell of Hillsboro, IL; Also, the special Card Club Bunch of 50+ years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother: Franklin D. and her son-in-law: Stan Roush.
Bernita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and "Aunt B" and will be deeply missed.
