Bernard M. "Bernie" Brooks Obituary (1938 - 2023)

Bernard M. "Bernie" Brooks, 84, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 10:31 A.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana, Illinois. His visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2023, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois. A graveside memorial service will follow the visitation at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois, with Pastor Susie Deeters officiating. Military Rites will be accorded. Bernie was born on December 25, 1938, in Farmer City, Illinois, a son of Dewey Sampson and Ruby Corder Brooks. He married Sandra Morgan on June 17, 1980, in Jacksonville, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Brooks of Farmer City, Illinois; stepson, Louis (Peggy) Morgan of Ellsworth, Illinois; stepdaughter, Stephanie Pruett of Virden, Illinois; two step grandchildren; and one step great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Bernie worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 37 years as a tower operator. He also owned and operated Brooks Trucking from 1970 to 1980. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, Farmer City, Illinois.
