Barbara Ann Kennedy

Barbara Ann Kennedy, 74, of Taylorville passed away at 8:43 am, Monday, July 11, 2011 at her residence. She was born January 2, 1937 in St. Louis Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Geraldine Shannan Thomas. On November 12, 1966 she married Harold Kennedy in Taylorville. He passed away on August 17, 2009. Barb worked as a Radiologic Technologist at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital and Taylorville Memorial Hospital for 50 years. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, attended Bible study at the AME Church in Taylorville, and was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and the American Society of Radiography Technology.

Surviving are her Step-son: Steve Kennedy of Taylorville; Step-daughter Harriet Jefferies, husband Lester, of Memphis Tennessee. Grandchildren: Benny May, Hayden Mitchell, Chris Kennedy, Chastity Walker, Sharnise Kennedy, and Julius Kennedy; 4 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Shirley McEwen, husband Frankie, of St. Louis Missouri, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Robert Thomas Jr., Arthur Thomas, and Raymond Thomas.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from noon until 2pm Friday in the funeral home. Fr. Dan Willenborg will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
