Barbara Casner

Barbara J. Casner, 87, of Pana passed away Monday, September 14, 2026 in Pana Health & Rehab. She was born May 16, 1939 in Pana, IL, daughter of the late Ben Kolesar & Mary Jane (Cunningham) Kolesar Goodwin. Barbara and Malcolm G. “Mac” Casner were married June 29, 1958 in Millersville, IL and he survives.
Barbara worked at Mallory’s in Pana, Millikin University in Decatur and was a clerk at People’s Bank & Trust in Pana for 25 years. She was also a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana and past president of the American Business Women’s Association. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and spending time on the porch swing with Mac.
In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her children: Greg Casner, Herrick, IL; Randy (Brenda) Casner, Herrick, IL; Brad Casner, Herrick, IL; Tim (Trina) Casner, Pana, IL; Rhonda (Scott) Gatons, Midlothian, TX; grandchildren: Jason (Tara) Casner, Ryan (Nina) Casner, Ross (Kirby) Casner, Adam (Leslie) Casner, Austin Casner, Aric Casner, Mallory (Matt) Schmitz, McKayla Casner, Drew (Leanne) Casner, Monica (Brandson) Haines, Megan (David) Miner, Evan (Jenny) Gatons & Emily Gatons (fiancé, Justin Campos); 28 great grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Thomas.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Leon Goff officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home
Memorials in Barbara’s honor may be made to the Pana Community Hospital Foundation for Quad County Hospice and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
