Austyn Levi Hoegger Obituary (1996

Austyn L. Hoegger, age 29, of Pontiac, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 1:31AM, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis City, MO. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home. Memorials in Austyn’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to Carle Foundation in Urbana, IL. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements. Austyn was born on July 7, 1996, in Pontiac, IL, to John Werry and Dona (Hoegger) Barlow. They both survive him in Pontiac, IL. He is survived by one stepfather: Tyler Barlow of Chenoa, IL. Other survivors include his siblings: Tommy Kruger of Pontiac, IL, Mitchell Barlow Jr. of Pontiac, IL, and Elisa Barlow of Pontiac, IL, two stepsisters: Ashley Barlow of Flanagan, IL, and Katelyn Barlow of Eureka, IL. He is also survived by two grandmothers: Jacque Werry of Canton, IL, and Glenda Hoegger of Pontiac, IL. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive him. He is preceded in death by two grandfathers: Richard L. Werry and James Hoegger, one grandmother: Suzanne Werry, and one step-grandfather: John Barlow. He is also preceded in death by his beloved fur-buddy: Zeus. Austyn graduated from Pontiac Township High School. He worked several different jobs over the years including Driscoll’s Quick Lube in Pontiac, IL, Love’s in Dwight, IL, and John Deere in Lexington, IL. Austyn was quite the handyman. He was the one everyone called when they needed their car fixed, a computer worked on, or any kind of technological help. He enjoyed playing pool, kayaking, welding, cooking, grilling, and motorcycles. He was a bright light that gave the best hugs and would listen to you when you needed someone to lean on. He was always the life of the party and never knew a stranger. He was never afraid to tell you what was on his mind or strike up a conversation with anyone. He was also a brave fighter. He didn’t get delt a good hand of cards in life, but he never let that stop him from living his life to the absolute fullest and having fun. Above all, Austyn loved his friends and family. He made countless special memories with each and every one of them that will be cherished forever. His memory will forever live on in all of the lives he touched.
