Ara Harbison Obituary (1938

Ara Ann Harbison was called home to our Lord on October 22, 2024. Ara was born May 29, 1938, in Peoria Illinois she was the daughter of James and Wilma Mauk. She Married E. Gene Harbison March 3, 1962. Ara was proceeded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, her brother Bill Mauk, his wife Rachel and Brother-in-law Joe Harbison. His wife Vikki survives. Surviving are her children and their spouses. Ara (Steve) Peterson. Sean (Kim - Lopez) Harbison. Janeine Huhn Shane (Nichole) Harbison. Grandchildren Jeremy (Stephanie), Joshua and Jacob Peterson. Brandon Harbison, Brea (Brad) Stoetzer. Zach Harbison. Payton Lopez. Paige (Connor) Leathers. Shelby (Joey) Adam, Chandler Harbison. Great Grandchildren Charolette and Emma Peterson. Devin and Jackson Crew, Harper Ara Ann Stoetzer. Penelope Leathers. Aurora Harbison. Ara graduated from the Academy of Our Lady, Peoria IL. In 1957 then from Saint Francis School of X-Ray Technology in Peoria in 1960. She was active in Cursillo and on their board from 1981 through 1984 and again from 1987 through 1999. Cursillo opened new path to God and the Bible for her. Prayer partners kept her grounded in God. She taught CCD at Saint Patrick’s of Merna Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching the NFL. Her children fulfilled her with love and were respectful and took good care of her. Grandchildren kept her young and her friends gave her joy and fun. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Gene at Holy Cross Cemetery in a private service for family.
