Anna "Marie" Rapp Obituary (1929 - 2024)

Anna “Marie” Rapp, age 94, of Pontiac, IL, passed away at 8:23 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Goldwater Care of Pontiac. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac with Pastor JD Buchenau officiating. A visitation will be held one hour before the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Inurnment will be held at Cornell Cemetery. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Marie was born on November 3, 1929, in Rural Odell, IL, to Edward and Sophia (Mammen) Krominga. She married Eugene L. Rapp on June 29, 1952, in Odell, IL. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. She is survived by her daughter: Judy (Todd) Johnson of Pontiac, IL; one grandson: Brian (Sami) Johnson of Batavia, IL; three grandchildren: Madilyn, Connor, and Skylar Johnson. She is also survived by one sister-in-law: Betty Christensen of Morris, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son: Dale Rapp (Vicki), two sisters: Mildred Barger and Edna Rogers, five brothers: Lawrence Krominga, Edward “Bud” Krominga, Glen Krominga, Earl Krominga, and Don Krominga, three nephews and one niece. Marie graduated from Cornell High School in 1948. She helped on the family farm and later worked at Meadows Nursing Home for 16 years. Marie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac where she served as a Deacon. She loved family gatherings and made sure nobody went home hungry. Mom liked to watch the Chicago Cubs and Bulls, seek and find word puzzles, strawberry sundaes, and her cat Fred. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
