Amy M. Schaefer Obituary (1977

Amy M. Schaefer, age 47, the beloved daughter of Tim and Kathy Schaefer of Flanagan, was taken Home to the Lord at 5:05 p.m. on June 29, 2025, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Flanagan, with Pastor Ben Blobaum officiating. A burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Flanagan. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at St. John's from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gift of Hope Community Foundation https://give.giftofhope.org/give/563774/#!/donation/checkout in Amy's name or NALC Disaster Response Fund. The family kindly requests that those paying their respects refrain from wearing perfumes and cologne. Amy was born In Normal, Illinois on July 9, 1977, a daughter to Tim and Kathy (Durre) Schaefer. Amy graduated from Gridley High School in 1995. She earned her associate's degree from Lincoln College while participating in their collegiate show choir, "Express," traveling across the Midwest singing and dancing. Early in her life, she held various roles at Country Companies and State Farm. Amy's struggle with health consumed much of her life. Through it all, she always put a very brave face on her many medical ailments, with her friends and family always carrying her through. Amy had the biggest heart and would talk to anyone. She truly saw the beauty in people around her everywhere she went. She frankly cared for others more than herself. She always made a point to thank law enforcement and military service personnel for their dedication to our country. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Flanagan, where she was a powerful prayer warrior, enjoyed singing in front of the church, and discussed faith questions with her pastor. Surviving are her parents, Tim and Kathy Schaefer; her brother Justin (Hannah) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her nephews Drew and Luke; and her niece, Lily. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard (her favorite buddy in life) and Agnes Durre, Leonard and Agatha Schaefer; her dear Godparents, Bob and Barb Isaia, along with Aunt Karen Durre. Amy will be greatly missed by all those she touched throughout her life. Even with her frail and ailing body, she could donate to the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue. Her example of giving in every way is a testament to her spirit. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams at Carle BroMenn Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion for Amy and the family. Calvert Johnson Memorial Home, Flanagan, is assisting the family with services.
